Yume Oukoku to Nemureru Hyaku-nin no Ouji-sama (Yume100) Ep. 9 Review

Right after I complimented them on a good episode they just went and gave me something that feels like an episode off an 8 o’clock children anime. Way to go.

So…the Wondermare guys. March Hare, Dormouse, Capita, Mad Hatter, Hearts, Chrono, and Cheschire Cat are basically characters from Alice in Wonderland re-imagined. Quite interesting. What I liked is that how they connected this kingdom’s plot to Kiel rather than just have him be the observer and make the ‘Imma recollect something’ face like usual. It also seems to be connected to the heroine’s past somehow, or that she just likes the flower on Hatter’s hat.

This entire episode has been the heroine repeating that she’s not Alice. Ugh, I’ve had enough of that stuff from the game (and we don’t actually get to know who the frick Alice is after reading like 6/7 of the character’s storylines). We’re in episode 9 and still no clue on what happened to her kingdom or what exactly prompted Navi to summon her now when the world has been plagued with Dream Eaters from the time Kiel’s daddy was still alive. The heroine was booted out to our world to protect her and her magic ring from being attacked and stolen, and she might’ve been the only one of her royal family to survive. That plot alone is more interesting than these two-episode fillers. Really, is the anime not going to cover her background? I thought the Kingdom of Troymare and the princess’s power to dope the princes are like…the biggest part of this story.

This episode Setiq just repeats whatever he said in the last episode. The black butterfly guy has little to no importance at all. No offense, but he feels like a villain off a manga for 8-year-old girls. That scene with Yuan didn’t add anything to his character, but it did tell us that Kiel’s kingdom was invaded by dream eaters and somehow Yuan died.

Compared to the previous episode, this one kinda feels meh. I don’t know if I like this adaptation. I just know that the Yume100 shorts were more entertaining to watch.
