So I went to Japan in August and the hype for this has almost died down and so I got no Rinne merch. So sad.
Okay, so the past three episodes has been each of the girl’s character arcs. Karen’s was episode was good but then later she returned to the island to be a flat character again. Hopefully she gets to go to college on the mainland. Sara’s arc was meh, the revelation that she was her own mother was interesting but that was sort of thrown away (I still think she is her own mother, though). I didn’t really understand what was happening and why she feared her birthday so much. Episode six was the setup of a tragedy, if this funny and snarky Setsuna isn’t the real Setsuna, Rinne might end up jumping into the sea at the end.
So far, the girls are cute, the policeman is sort of weird (because he knows way too much) and Setsuna is fairly entertaining, but the story is getting stale and if they don’t pick it up I’mma cast this anime off to the side and forget about it.
Also, save for Sara’s parents, the adults in Island are sort of horrible. Sara’s grandpa make people lock their babies away to starve to death, Rinne’s dad killed her boyfriend, and Karen’s dad locked his daughter on the island. What the heck.
