Fairy Gone Ep. 7-12 Review: Okay people what IS going on?

fairy gone episode review 12

Okay it’s probably my fault for playing King’s Raid while watching, but hey.

So I just finished Fairy Gone. Apparently this Diese guy started a rebellion, and then was crushed by Ray Dawn. The end.

Wolfran and Veronica disappeared. It’s such a waste, given the chemistry Fairy Gone managed to set up between their counterparts (Free and Marlya, respectively). It can definitely be expanded in future episodes.

Speaking of Marlya… the portion of her getting over being a “Child of Disaster” is probably the best thing that happened to the second half. It gives her some real connection to Free Underbar and the rest of the team. Aside from that character development thing, still no clue what she wants from life aside from maybe killing Beevee. Make up with Veronica? Revenge on Ray Dawn? Peace? Maybe try finding out the true reason she got Ash Clad and her green Pokemon? Well, there’s still season 2.

You know, that scene where Mr. Beevee (whose name sounds oddly similar to one of the world’s ugliest dogs, Pee Wee) whistled in sync with the the soundtrack was so messed up but in a good way… until the bullet shower started and everyone realized how messed up the logic was.

Ash Clad (Marlya’s fairy) was so badass, but in reality, she’s useless and doesn’t serve to help anything aside from getting bullets on Marlya. Like, why?

The biggest problem I had with Fairy Gone is that it’s too complicated for its own good. There are way too many factions doing their own stuff at the same time, and having two emo blonde people with similar personality certainly did not help. There were too many names thrown around every single episode, half of which were not even important. (Recall that episode where they threw names of Fairy Tome authors around and expect us to care) And worse yet, the place names mean absolutely nothing if they’re not with labels like “—-‘s Headquarter”. Like, how the heck do you expect me to remember names like Hapstadt when you probably told me one time in one episode where it was and why it was important? How do you expect me to understand what’s going on in a scene only by giving the place name?

Okay, character names are cool and fun to say. Names like Nein Auler and Free Underbar and Wolfran Row are cool. Still, sometimes the dialogue felt like they were written so that the voice actors get to reiterate these cool names over and over for no reason other than they sound cool. Take that episode where Robert Chase (the glasses dude in Dorothea) had half his dialogue just saying “Eddy” and “Ted”.

Overall, Fairy Gone has been average. I’ll proceed to watch just to find out what happens between Marlya and Veronica, and maybe await some cute moments between Marlya and Free.
