Episode 7 is about Miss Spider. To be honest, I was a bit surprised that the story broke from the usual ‘beat the monster’ formula for a happy ending. It blurs the line of how different people and monsters really are. Very modern.
Episode 8 is the usual ‘sacrifice a bride’ kind of deal. Hyakkimaru got his smell back. I just have to get this out that Dororo is very, very brave to latch onto a hugeass sky serpent like that. Seriously, this kid, are you still normal?
Episode 9 cover Dororo’s mother. Dororo’s backstory is so heartbreaking. It’s even more sad once I realized that Dororo was raised as a boy because her parents didn’t want her to be mistreated and taken into prostitution. I love how the red spider lilies are used to contrast the monochrome characters. Great use of colors.
Hyakkimaru and Dororo grew a bit closer and their interactions are getting more and more interesting to watch.
Overall, this anime is keeping it up.
